What is a literary work?

Literary copyrights are available for the types of media listed below.  When you want to copyright a book, poetry collection, or pamphlet, you want a literary copyright, and to make sure it is right, you want to use Register My Copyright! Literary works include nondramatic textual works with or without illustrations. They may be published or nonpublished. Computer programs and databases also are considered literary works, please contact us from the Contact page in order to register these. Plays, dramas, and screenplays are not in the literary works category (see Performing Arts page).
